I think I already know what this is, but wanted to be sure.
A rattle at start up from cold that goes away after about 30 seconds of running is a sticky cam chain tensioner right??
It's a '99 Hornet 6 by the way. ____________________ My Flickr |

thanks, but I've just noticed it does it regardless of whether it's hot or cold, it's just much more pronounced from cold.
Any ideas? ____________________ My Flickr |

i think it's always done it, i'm probably just paranoid lol. It had it's big service(clearences) about 3 months ago so wouldn't they have checked the tensioner and that during the service. ____________________ My Flickr |

Sorry to dig this up, but I know what's doing it!
It's the clutch. It only does it in Neutral and you pull the clutch in and it disappears, so must just be the clutch plates rattling together, like a Ducati dry clutch only less cool. Lots of them do it apparently. ____________________ My Flickr |

They all do it mate, nothing to worry about
Make a sort of grinding/rattling sound doesn't it? That is if the sound it coming from the clutch housing, and only when you have the clutch out in neutral. It should stop doing it when you pull the clutch in. |
