Maybe police in spain are just twats, but the other day me and 3 friends were riding on two scooters and we were going to a football field for the day. We got a bit lost cause its kind of in the hills, so we were just driving about. A police car appears out of nowhere, stops us all (we were NOT chavvy in any way) and we ask what the problem is. He asks us what we're doing in the area, implying that we didn't have the right to be there. WTF! Public road!
Then he started asking for ID, wrote down all of them, and started threatening us cause one guy's 12 year old brother didn't have his ID card, saying he could take him in until the parents come get him. In the end nothing happened obviously, but still pisses me off!
Stories please

A couple of years ago I was getting constant harrassment from the local police, as soon as they saw me they would do everything they could to pull me over, sometimes even driving dangerously in order to turn round, over take any cars between me and them then pull me

They would then say its a routine check and turn my car inside out and give me a producer, some weeks I was taking a handfull of producers to the station at the same time and complaining about it to no avail, but they never had anything to "do" me for, then it started getting worse, they theatened me with failing to stop because it took me about 100 yards to stop, always had a proper shit attitude with me even though I always tried to be polite, but this still wasn't good enough for them, so they tried to do me for drink driving when I was WALKING home from the pub, which my car was parked behind, all locked up and with a cold engine from sitting there while I was having a drink!

After this I complained to my local MP, who passed on my complaint to the chief of police, who I then had an interview with and he told me how shocked he was at what I was telling him and said he would have a word with the officers involved (which was half the station) and I've only been pulled once since that and he was alright with me, just told me I had a brake light out and told me to be on my way!

Thing is, to this day I still don't know why it happened, even if I changed my car they would spot me within a few days so it wasn't that they didn't like the car or anything!

The only thing it did to me was completely destroy my faith in the police force, I wouldn't piss on an officer if he/she was on fire Rolling Eyes

I think there are many people who become officers cause they like feeling powerful and "above" the rest. That's why they randomly pick on people

Act like a twat being all cocky and you'll end up being remembered and pulled over time and time again. Rule of thumb, be pleasant with the copper and there's a good chance you'll get let off without a producer.

Try getting pulled at a roadblock where there are three people cuffed together and a couple of dead guys in the ditch and then say that the Cops in your country give you grief.

Unless you could piss petrol? Laughing

Well, the first post in this thread is as good an argument as I can think of for not having ID cards in this country. "If you've done nothing wrong, you have nothing to fear." Aye, right. I'm not so green as I'm cabbage-looking.

nobody has ever had as many producers as Sickpup , by virtue of his employment status and where he lives , I remember he said he got 150+ over the period of a few weeks, but he lives sort of near the inner circle , you know the elite bankers of the country who the police are there to protect. Unlike mere mortals like us...

I've definitely seen police 'abuse' and similar, but a hell of a lot less than I've seen abuse of the police I'd say; possibly because it tends to happen on a more open basis, maybe.

Been punched by one about 10 years ago.

On a works night out a colleague (not even in my dept) went funny after a few beers and started being abusive to his girlfriend outside a night club. 2 coppers passed by and told us to get him in his girlfriends car and to take him home.

I kept pushing him in to the car, he kept trying to get out. In the end he did and he put 2 hands around this police mans neck. I tried to pull him off at which point, the other copper punched me and told me to fxxk off or they'd arrest me as well.

This lad did a night in the cells and lost his job the following day.
Don't know what happened to him though as I never saw him again.

Last year i was pulled over by a police volvo for speeding. I freely admit i was in the wrong but the way the policeman handled it was crap.
He stood me at the side ov the volvo and said "there are 2 ways of doing this, its 3 points and a £60 fine. Or you give me £20 and i let you go"
I gave him the £20, took not of his badge number and later that day reported the corrupt bastard to the local headquarters!

You get good and bad Police Officers over here. I know as many stories about Officers restraint and good sense as I do about them being bastards.

I know a couple of Officers who are good guys unless someone takes the piss with them, at that point they will take the piss back.

I used to get stop and searched all the time as a teenager, but that was to be expected. I had long hair, Russian Army greatcoat and walked through industrial estates and expensive housing late at night. Should it have happened? Probably not but it was no big deal.

ages ago , on my 125 days night rides I'd get stopped cus my bike looked stolen (how a bike can look stolen is beyond me) but I do go out riding in the early hours of the morning for insomnia purposes.

I do remember a quip from my Indian mate who said in India police ask for bribes

I'm not being a tosser, but I really don't believe this. I know a few coppers and none would risk their job for something like that.

The police have always been quite reasonable with me. Once me and the missus were coming back from a gig at about 4 in the morning in the car, and as I stopped at a set of lights I noticed a cop car behind me who then stopped me. Turns out he'd been behind me for 4 miles while I'd been doing up to 50 in a 30 zone in some places - he just told me to slow down and sent me on my way. Granted it was in the middle of the night with no traffic so this may have had something to do with it.
