OK i just had a thought.
Your not supposed to cover up a wet bike as the bike doesnt get to dry properly - so what the best thing to do when you ride home and its still raining when you arrive - cover the bike wet or leave it in the rain Smile
thoughts please people.....

Gaz.

hehe thought someone was gonna say that - mines waterproof but not breathable.
the bike just lives in the back garden without any real weather protection apart from being near the hoose so what do ya reckons better in that case?

Sounds like your gubbed!

I used to keep a bike outside under a breathable cover for about 6 months including over the winter. When it was wet I still threw the cover over it.

Never really done much damage to the bike but the chain did get a bit tatty towards the end of that time.

Just leave it in the rain. Its not made of paper mache you know Wink

Bikes are fine in the rain, its winter salt that rots them. Just give it a good regulalr clean.

Edit - had an expensive oxford breathable cover - made little difference and still created a lot of condensation.

The best thing to stop your bike rotting to oblivion in winter is a hose, give it a wash off and it will get all the nasty salt and whatnot off after a wet ride, i'd dare say if you did this you'd not really need to cover it..

As as been said some breathable covers are better then others too, mr_fisty off here keeps his covered and outside all year long and its a sight more shiny than mine which was garaged and never really washed, don't forget it also keeps the sun off the bike and that don't do much good for rubber bits and especially not the paint job Wink

I just leave it uncovered. It's already wet, not going to get any wetter.

That sounded dodgy...
