……………why you should remove perfectly serviceable OEM parts from your bike and replace them with Chav tat?

For instance:-

Remove a perfectly good screen and replace with a “Blue Matrix Airflow” cost £85.00
Add a tail guard for £70.00
Add a radiator cover for £45.00
Stick on an “Iridium Headlamp Cover” a bargain at only £35.00
Unscrew perfectly good fuel cap screws and replace them with coloured alloy ones cheap at £12.49
Remove your rear sprocket nuts and replace them with embarrassing coloured ones, only £14.99.
Replace your pre-load adjusters with coloured ones for only £25.00
Stick tatty pieces of imitation “carbon fibre” on your fuel cap £9.99
Stick same on your yoke cover £9.95
Remove master cylinder cover and replace with one that has your bike’s logo on £19.99
Take out all the bolts in your fairing and put in silly coloured ones £19.99
Take out all the bolts holding your engine together and replace these with coloured ones £ 11.99
Replace the yoke on the handlebar with a logo one £39.95

The list goes on and on and on. So far I would have been £399.34 out of pocket by buying this crap and my bike would look a mess. So why bother?

Because some people like them and choose to spend their hard earned on what they want.

And the world would be a boring place if we all liked the same thing!

I've just spent a small fortune turning my SV forks into shiny gold USD GSXR1000 forks. Very Happy

there is no accounting for taste.

I have a whole plethora of aftermarket add ons on my bike, but they are all functional as far as I can see:

Free Spirits spring loaded belt tensioner: £30
Muller power clutch: £70
Trojan Horse Racing lower primary gear set : £60
Aluminium oil filler cap/dipstick (the plastic one curls over and is useless) : £15
Double bubble tinted screen (not black... the stock one is orange and the one that was on there when I bought it was opaque black). :£40
LSL bar conversion: £not sure it was on there when I bought it
Renthal bars (admittedly in a gold colour, but they aren't that bad and I didn't buy 'em!
R&G Racing crash mushrooms: £100
R&G Racing Swingarm protectors £20
R&G Racing front Spindle protectors £20

Is it your bike? No so don't complain.

I have a carbon fibre Yoke protector for one reason... YUP YOU GUESSED IT to protect my Yoke from scratches, I have no problem with people spending their money on their bike.

Oh yer i have blue leathers that go with my bike, would you like to moan about that also ?

I did a total of all the things ive added and it comes to over £4k

but pretty much everything was done when I was racing and its an improvement over stock.

In case you forget what bike you're on and can't be bothered getting off it to read the side?

Well, from your list, the crankcase cover screws are probably a good idea. Although I would go for stainless instead of anodised myself. The standard cross-heads are utterly shite, replacing them with socket heads is a worthwhile exercise.

Why would you buy a 160mph+ machine when the Maximum Speed Limit in this Coutnry is only 70?

Different folks, different strokes and all that...

I've got a double bubble on the VFR because the OEM one tries to rip my head off above 90mph. Bike's bloody designed for tiny japanese folk...

Oh, and i might be changing the exhaust can soon cos the OEM one is huge and weighs a ton. Oh, and because i'm secretly a tart. Very Happy

I got a new screen because the OE one was too low.

Whats a tail guard ? Do you mean a tail tidy ? I got that because the Kawasaki one is so big that you could actually sit under it and keep dry when it rained.

I got a radiator cover because my last radiator got a hole in it and it cost over £100 for a 2nd hand one. To buy new it would have been over £300.

I've also replaced my fairing & fuel cap bolts as well as my spocket nuts because the ones that were there originally didn't like being outside in any weather. Mind you they were replaced with stainless items not bright blue or pink ones. Wink

I also changed my indicators front and rear. Thumbs Up

Got it a screen because it's a naked Hornet, so crap wind protection.

Got a hugger to protect the shock

Getting a belly pan to help keep crap off the sump/exhaust.

That's the extend of my tarty mods.
