Count me in Mr. Green

Always dreamed of going there! Though I'd definately ride there...otherwise whats the point? Confused

Think somebody (Scoob? Very Happy) should set about making a few price enquiries about travel etc and be the chief organiser. That way I have no level of responsibility and the plan may actually work Wink

LOL Kris trusts me to be chief organiser from the sounds of things. I will see what I can do on the price front, but someone mentioned before that it'll be expensive, £100+ alone just for the return ferry travel AFAIK. Leave it with me...

Quote:
Cronk Dhoo Farm Campsite, Greeba Tel: (01624) 851327
Open TT fortnight and July & August. Toilets, hot and cold water, wash-hand basins, shower block, washing machine and electric in wash rooms. Adjacent to famous TT course. 1 mile from shop and Post Office. 6 miles from Douglas. Country Inn 200 yards. Public telephone 100 yards. Rural 6 acre site. Vehicle park beside tents.

I asked for costs during the TT and was told £4 per person per night, or £3.50 if we book in a group of 8 or more. Apparently it's best to have it booked well in advance, something like January or even earlier.

Unsure of exact ferry costs, but I think it's around the £100 mark for standard return ticket on a bike, again you have to book early before the prices go up and availability goes down. Food and alcohol can be brough over to avoid paying the inflated prices, a lockable bike cover should keep prying eyes off your aftermaket goodies.

Who's up for a holiday to the TT then? Cool

Afraid I've tried that Sad
You have to make a seperate booking for each bike. And can you imagine how much money they'd lose during TT week if they offered group bookings for bikes!

At the mo the ferry situation is this;

Full prices unknown at present. The ferry company is only taking bookings at £20 a head until next years prices are announced Sad I know, I know. I tried to get a rough idea but the bloke kept shtum.
This is probably the best timetable for us....

Depart Liverpool 1st June 2003 18.30 sharpish....
then....
Depart IoM 8th June 2003 04.45 (early I know)

There are places left...but they will go within a few months so we should hurry up.

Korn, you gonna start a user group for this seeing as we need to get some bookings in soon?
Plus we can get an idea of the numbers going.

Very Happy

Just dug an old bike magazine out the cupboard cos it had about the TT in it.
Apparently 10 things you must do at the TT are;

1. Get the right ferry. Norway's pretty boring in June.

2. Say hello to the fairies at the Fairy Bridge. They bring you good luck and should ensure you make it home in one piece.

3. Do a lap of the course. It's best early in the morning on a non-race day when everyone else is sleeping off hangovers.

4. Chew on a Manx kipper. A local speciality and tastes good (apparently).

5. Ride Mad Sunday. It's too busy to go fast but you have to get the T-shirt. We're talking pure survival here.

6. See George Formby's 1936 TT film 'No Limit'. Its always showing in pubs with screens and you can amuse/annoy your friends afterwards by singing 'Come Along And See Me Riding' in a comedy Lancashire accent.

7. Watch some racing. Sounds obvious but some never make it to the track due to over-enthusiastic partying 24/7. Have you ever seen a rocket launcher being fired up a village street? Nuff said.

8. Watch the Red Arrows over Douglas Bay and try to figure out how they're still alive.

9. Get drunk.

10. Make sure you get home again. The Isle of Man's a bit boring after the TT nd theres no beer left.

Now come on.......sounds fun doesnt it! Mr. Green
