Does anyone know how the German polizei take to having smaller number plates on bikes? Is it worth getting a proper sized one before heading over?

Also what's the deal with having the Euro stars symbol on your number plate with GB under it? Is that required?

Tbh I've considered getting a smaller plate for Europe so the bike would stand out less as being British; most abroad seem to have smaller plates as standard, and lots have smaller still.

Not sure about Germany though, they have quite strict type-approval things.

If you have a Euro plate technically you legally don't need to display a GB sticker. It's no biggie just not displaying a sticker though, a lot of bikers don't, I've done 8k abroad without a sticker with a few police interactions and the lack of sticker has never been mentioned.

8 of us went over the weekend all with small plates and we never had a problem.
