I'm about to replace the knackered Cam Chain Tensior on my Gixxer this weekend with an APE manual tensioner.

My questions is pretty simple - how much tension do I wind in when I put it on?

The standard one is hydraulic (I believe?) and self adjusts, but I have to manually set this one, so how much is enough?

Thanks in advance!

If your not sure then leave it a bit lose so long as it is tight enough as to
not let the chain jump on the drive teeth.
I would use mild pressure.Im not sure how to explain what pressure so
if I think of how I will post.

Paddy.

Ive just fitted a APE to my GPZ, its a piece of cake to adjust,

install it (make sure to wind it all the way out so you dont fuck the camchain guide).

screw it in until you JUST meet firm resistance, then screw it out a quarter turn.

start the motor, and unscrew slowly it until the motor becomes noisey then slowly screw it in until it goes quiet again. Then stop the motor and tighten off the locknut. Dead easy and my GPZ has never been quieter.

Make sure you remember to adjust it at each service though. Thumbs Up
