Following the attempted theft of my bike the police came and dusted it down to check for fingerprints, and then buggered off leaving me with a dusty and broken bike, that looks as if it had been invited to a Rolling Stones cocaine party! I have found that this stuff is an absolute nightmare to get off! It has filled all the micro and otherwise invisible scratches on the bike's tank making them broad and obvious, and smeared the tachometer so much that it is virtually opaque. It looks an utter state.

Does anyone have any tips on the removal of this stuff?

Regards

Watered down window cleaner, then sponge with warm water, followed by lots of rinsing... then a good polish Thumbs Up

Jet washes don't get stubborn oily/greasy things off. Take a jet wash or even a steam wash to a really greasy wheel and watch the dirt just stay there. Got one at work for this purpose, its good for cleaning loose or muddy crap off but not greasy marks.

I second the WD40 and the soapy water... plus you get to work with that lovely smell of WD40... Smile

A toothbrush will scratch paintwork, it's way too coarse, should only be used for metalwork or wheels.
