...is like cocaine.

After a 4am call-out for work, with a soggy, windy, and cold blast in along some fast A-roads, my hands and feet are bone-dry, and the rest of me's mildly damp.
I think I need another Gore-tex fix; more, dammit, more!

Yeah it's good stuff.

Don't buy Shelltex. Cheap crap that seems to absorb more water than it protects you from.

edit: spelling

Amen to that! I have a pair of Dainese Gore-Tex Trousers and had a horrendous ride from Aberystwyth to Cardiff (about 100 miles) in the pouring (and I mean bucketing down) rain a while back. Got home more wet from the sweat than the rain!! It is well worth the investment. I don't care now if its raining or not, I stay dry all the time. Very Happy

*nods*
First pair of gloves I bought were a pair of cheapies from Hein Gericke, and they never really performed. The Shelltex stuff didn't appear to do much, and water tended to come through round when I got damp everywhere else.
Spunked on a reduced pair at the bike show this year, and haven't looked back since.
