Ok a while back i posted about my bike overheating, told the dealer, got good advice from here. Anyway i had it repaired and it's been fine, untill this morning....
When it done exactly the same, pushed all the coolent out the verspill as the pressure from the piston was forceing it back up.

Anyway i managed to ride it home slow for 2 miles stopping every so often as though not to damage anything.
Had a quick look at the cylinder head and it seemed to have some blue stuff round it.....
I thought well thats not a normal gasket, thats some instant gasket putty crap. (think its only used as a tempory measure). I have some of that in the garage.

But i mean i think they've took the bike back, havn't actaully got the actuall gasket and used this stuff as a "quick Fix".

Well i phoned them to tell them about this and they've asked if they can pick up the bike back to hopefully fix it properly. least there not screwing me. its not like i have a warrenty with them. the bikes a 94 NSR.

But least there not hiding away from the problem and dealing with it.

But for fucks sake gasket = £5......
Instant gasket = £3..

why not just buy the actual gasket and have it done with.

I'm playing innocent at the moment as in i pretending to have no knowledge of any mechanics what so ever.
( i do have a little , striped and rebuilt my scooter,,,,i no expert like some of you guys are..)

Hopefully the problem will be ironed out all soon.

Scott

Normally u would use gasket sealant with a gasket just 2 get a good bond.

if they have done it properly and it is leaking, the head could be slightly warped due to excessive heat. but i doubt it probably just a shite job from the garage.

I believe it was me who first suggested the gasket ( I had the same issue on my first NSR - the RK)

All I did was sand off the gasket and head with 1500 grit paper and use a GOOD gasket sealant and put the old metal gasket back on - there were no issues with the gasket itself - just a bit of rust creep between the two. You shouldn't do it like that really but it ran for the next 6 month no problem at all.

It may just be easier to do it yourself and bugger them off - your without your bike everytime they mess with it....

Hi

Dont trust gasket goo at all. For normal gaskets I use a bit of grease normally, just to soften them a little. Head gaskets are different and often have a covering of some kind on them, like a varnish. When you run the engine the coating seals up the gasket properly. With these there is no way you want to put anything on them

All the best

Keith
