I have been looking into/wishfully thinking about what bike to get next and have decided i am likely to go for a larger capcity sports-tourer affair.

I was having a nose around and have found something called the Suzuki GS1200ss. Picture below:

https://www.suzukicycles.org/photos/suzuki-history/2002/2002_GS1200SS_450.jpg

Has anybody seen one of these before or had any experience of them. From what I understand it is essentailly a half faired Bandit 1200, would this be a correct assumption, if so what are the main differences bar cosmetics? I will not be purchasing this bike within the UK so not an issue that they are not available over here.

Thanks for any help.

Hi

Not sure they were sold outside Japan, but if this is for NZ then there are probably loads there.

Basically a 1200 Bandit engine. Somewhat different chassis (twin rear shocks for example). No doubt can easily and cheaply gain a load of power just like a Bandit.

All the best

Keith

Well it's nothing like the Inazuma that I saw today! Which is identical to the GSX750W that we get over here.

Yes Reuben, it is a bandit12 enginey-bit, but has a different frame although shares some of the running gear.
Much more retro - I like it Wink

Its closer to the bandit, Just has a reinforced rear subframe and a different swing arm to accept the twin shocks.

Otherwise its more or less a B12 with something approximating a slabside GSXR upper fairing fitted.

There's one of those down the local bike shop in Palmy and there was a guy at the beach with one.

They're big and meaty and they sound big and meaty.

That is all I have to offer on the subject.
