Hi guys, i've just bought a Derbi Senda SM50, DRD Edition, it's a 2005, does any1 know how to fully derestrict it? it's had bigger jets in the carburetter but i'm not sure if it is fully derestricted. Confused

Does any1 know how to do this fully? a link would be helpful.

As you said, the standrad exhaust is VERY likely to have a washer where it joins the cylinder, as is any race exhaust you might buy. The washer can be taken out with a screwdriver and some force. The bike will run much better then. I recommend you buy an aftermarket exhaust though, the difference will be huge. MK do good exhaust for them - https://www.bike-spares.co.uk/ very helpful website, you can buy exhauts there.

The airfilter can be left alone to save hassle with airflow, even a foam powerfilter wont improve anything noticeably.

Standrd carb is 14mm which is pathetic, upgrading to a 21mm will give a nice boost in torque.

70cc cylinder again gives a nice boost in torque and top end speed. Malossi MHR 80cc kit is very good for the senda engine.

check the gearing on the bike aswell, sometimes they are stupidly down geared and this reduces top speed by lots.

You can easily have the Sendas going 65+mph

Gdgd, i don't want to ruin my bike though, for example putting a 70cc cylinder might affect it/harm it. i want to keep it well and running, would a bigger carb(21mm) do it any harm?

The derbi block was designed and manufactured with a 70cc cylinder, it's only sold as a 50cc to comply with our laws. It gets sold as a 70cc in Spain.

As long as it's jetted correctly a 21mm carb wont do the bike any harm really.

If you dont want to mess with the bike buy yourself a race exhaust and go a few jet sizes up (circa 74 mainjet if memory serves) then gear the bike to 14, 52. This will leave you with a nice reliable setup, no more pissing about at 40mph.
