i have a 1984 GSXR without any fairings...
say if i bought some 1990 gsxr fairings, would they fit?
as i've looked around t'internet and not found much in the way of fairings.
are GSXR fairings pretty much year specific?
cheers queers.

To be fair, There doesn't seem to look like theres a whole lot of difference in the general size/outline of the fairings.

I suppose anything is possible if you put time and thought into it.

Good luck anyway man!

Ive been thinking about putting NC35 fairings on my Baby blade. Not sure how easy it would be though.

https://www.suzukicycles.org/photos/suzuki-history/1984/1984_GSX-R_blackred_520.jpg

and i want to try and fit these fairings to it. (1990)

https://www.suzukicycles.org/photos/suzuki-history/1990/1990_GSX-R400SP_450.jpg

or even these (1988)

https://www.suzukicycles.org/photos/GSX-R/GSX-R400/1988_Japan/1988_GSXR400_bluewhite_500.jpg

anything older than the 1988 looks a bit rubbish to me.
any chance of any of these fairings fitting?
basically anything from 1988 to present fairings.

If your not shy about bending some flat bar into a mounting bracket shape and use your head designing a bracket then it should be fine, if the faring will physicaly go on then thats allot of the problem sorted Wink

The thing to do would be have a look where the faring should fix to then adapt, allot mount in a few places and have bolts allong it to support itself (which means major hassle takeing the lot off to get at any one bit ime, so clever bracketry would mean being able to remove top/mid/lower all seperately)

btw.. Is it for comfyness or protecting the bike from filth reasons? or looking nice reasons?
Personally i'd get a belly pan and a decent fly screen these sort the worst of the filth and the worst of the wind blast, even buy an ugly but big screen for them longer rides perhaps?

good luck anyhow Wink

edit: i think the top one looks well cool Shifty

You could probably make them fit if you fabricated some sort of brackets for each and every part of the bike. However, You will almost defiantly need to keep the original Tank. Look at the lines of the Frame.

Ever thought about changing the rear subframe for the later model. It might just bolt straight onto the frame, meaning the rear pannels from a later gsxr will bolt straight on. Thumbs Up

For the minitwins class (SV650s) pretty much all fairings have to be bodged on. Same for a lot of race bikes, as aftermarket race fairings are rarely a perfect fit.

This means usually bodging brackets a - bit of drilled bent metal attached to an appropriate engine mounting point or similar usually does the job.

cheers for the replys.
the only reason im wondering is because my GSXR at the moment has no fairings at all, i bought it like that, only i dont like the look of the '84 GSXR's.
so basically, it will fit the bike, but i will need to mod it a bit to fix it in the right places? thats cool, i can weld a bit and bend metal Very Happy
i dont mind the tank at the mo, its the fairing that needs sorting Very Happy

heres what mine looks like at the moment.

due to my elite ms paint skills :S
i can predict if the fairing will fit or not. this is the 1988 one, so i think the 1990 isnt much different.
all i need is a new front wheel and speedo pickup and im sorted!
reckon its dooable?
