I'm getting annoyed with my rs125s reliability and would like to restrict a 400. How do i go about doing this? Also anyone know where I can get cheap insurance from as I've heard its a lot more on a restricted bike? The cbr/vfr400 look like prime targets to me. Anyone know how quick they are restricted or what they run/ride like in general?

insurance isnt effected by the restrictors mate, they have to be fitted by a certified garage and normaly set you back around 200-300 quid! for 2 washers!

dont know the performance of those bikes very well if you wait around someone else can fill you in

i was in the exact same positiopn as you about 4 months ago, my rs125 was getting a bit exspensive so i bought an rvf400 , when it was restricted you can tell straight away that it accelerates quicker due to the extra torque of the engine, as for insurance mines insured for £1200 for an 18 yr old which isnt that bad.also the running costs are a lot lower i havent bought anything accept petrol and a few bolt ons in the last 3 months. My restrictors have some how now fallen out , i wonder how that happended .hehe...

I dunno where u got your restrictors ordered and fitted from but you won't be paying any more than £150 to restrict a bike, maybe +/- an extra £20 depending on labour rates.

A restricted 400 is a lot quicker than a 125 and you feel a lot more confident on one as you know you've got plenty of acceleration and speed, they're also a lot happier in the wind and better in wet conditions due to the wider tyres, they also don't need engine rebuilds like 2-strokes do so are generally much lower maintanance.
