As above really was going along a main road when an old geezer shot out in front of me in his fiesta, I beeped the horn, slammed on the brakes and started praying. Sadly there was nowhere I could swerve to avoid him so I went into the side of him and over the top. The poor old bike is dead Sad . Thankfully both the driver and myself are ok (Well a few aches and pains but alive). Thank Christ I was only going 40.

Take care out there folks!
Kris.

Glad you're alright.

You were doing 40 you say? Was it in a 40 zone, or a 30?

What about the insurance? From the sounds of what you said, it seems that the old man is at fault for shooting out in front of you (as you put it).

But if you were doing 40 in a 30 then that's going to damage your claim...

To be honest I'm quite surprised you came out with only aches and pains after being thrown over the top of a car at 40mph.

I remember a story on another forum where a guy crashed at 40mph at a crossroads, he suffered mild concussion and his full leather suit was in pieces.. very lucky indeed Thumbs Up

Unlucky creeky.

Sounds like you have a perfect non-fault from your perspective so you should get a full payout for whatever the bike and your gear coss. You should get checked-out by a doctor too.

As I was told many years ago:

"If that's the worst you ever suffer in your life from riding bikes you'll be a very lucky man".

Take care.

Cheers for the kind words all and as you say I am very lucky, I know of people who have died travelling slower. I guess like your sig says Geri "Gear is good, gear is good, gear is very very good". I was wearing a full set. Don't worry ColdInsomnia I was travelling within the speed limit. I also have a witness I can contact if needs be regarding who was at fault.

you wrote gear is good etc...

from my off yesterday i totally agree, i was only doing 5 mph max but hitting a solid object like a car and then the deck with your pillion bouncing off you gives you a few aches and paines with full kit on, without it i would certainly be in much more pain.

be safe, if not, ride it like you stole it! Wink
