Can someone please clear this up. I Passed my bike test the other day, but as I'm going on holiday and want to hire a bike, I wanted to keep my licence from being sent off. Now I've photocopied all the relevant documents and want to send my licence off. But I'm not sure what form to fill in. The back of the Test Cert is as clear as a painted window. I cannot see what form is relevant for me. ie, I have a full car photo licence with counterpart, and want to add the bike part to the licence. If I read the back of the cert correct, the I should just send off the cert with my licence, and not fill any forms in. Can anyone help?

I did this 2 weeks ago. Same problem so I phoned the DSA.

You need a D1 form from your post office.

You normally need to surrender your license to the DSA when adding a category but you could tick the ''lost license'' box. I'm 75% sure you don't have to send more photos in as you already have a Photocard license.

Also, check and see if the hire company will accept a photocopy or photo printout. Worth doing.

Best scan both sides of the license and the counterpart as the DSA have a habit of loosing your entitlements. You could also scan the pass certificate as well.

So, to summerise if you have a Photocard license:

1, Form D1 (Pretty straight forward to fill out)

2, Your old License (If present)

3, Your pass certificate.

Adding categories is free. Normally takes a month to get your new license, mine's not arrived yet.
