Yes but it will get moved once a mod sees this and posting stuff in the wrong section just so "more people will see it" just annoys people. Thumbs Down

Get your theory done and out the way as there is no point in waiting to do that. Just do your training and your test as soon as you are over there is nothing waiting until next year will offer unless you don't want to do your test in the cold weather. Also doing your test and getting it out the way will get your 33bhp clock ticking.

It depends as a general rule i would say if you have transport stick with what you've got for now. otherwise get tests etc out of the way and find something, anything asap. you can allways change it come the better weather.

Yes it will help, it's certainly not going to do any harm. To find out the waiting times why not just look on the DSA website? Confused

Do your test as soon as possible. You shouldnt get too cold or wet if you have the right (or even somewhere close) gear. Its amazing the effect of wearing 2.99 waterproof leggins from asda can have! They kept me mostly dry for just under an hour when it was tipping it down. I do see the point in waiting, but the weather isnt going to get much better till around march time. OK if you can wait that long.

Ahem, your ped is not counting towards your 33bhp restriction time. For the first two years on a A2 license you are restricted to 33bhp so it's worth getting those two years started.

The theory test is mostly general road stuff that is applicable to bikes and cars but there are questions which are car specific in the car theory test and ones which are bike specific in the bike theory test.

Have a look at this thread to see what the test comprises of, and yes it is intended to be challenging to see if you are up to a certain standard or not.

The practical isnt something i found hard at all. However everyone is different, some are jammy bastards who fly straight through it, others are unfortunate sods plaugued by bad luck. So long as you do some training and the instructors have some confidence in you then passing shouldnt be a problem.

The theory test is also fairly plain sailing provided that you practise for it in some way.

Yes indeed, I'm considering moving to Shrewsbury when it comes to my practical test to partake in the sheer jam of luck you seem to have with them. Then promptly move back again to not part take in Shrewsbury's 'accident prone' ways! Laughing

In my opinion, if you can afford to start towards your licence now, then do it. Since if nothing else it will prep you so you know what to expect later on, when the weather turns nice again and going for things like tests are more preferable! Very Happy

Just book on the DSA website.

Gears may be new to you, do some training and they'll say when you're up to test standard.

Gears aint hard.
The hardest thing is getting your head around being on 2 wheels and how that effects your movement and attitude ont he road and towards other road users. ped expirence will have taught you more than enough about all of that. I'm sure after a single lesson gears won't be a problem, the rest will just be drumming into your head to check your mirrors and perform shoulder checks etc.

Bike theory isnt hard either, and doesnt differ fromt he car theory much at all. I booked my bike theory imediatly after doing my car theory, and sat it a week later. Having not read anything relating to motorcycle theory i passed with 34/35 and 63/75 before i had even booked my CBT! Laughing Its all just common sense really, so long as you read, the re-read each question and take your time then there is nothing to worry about.

Good luck (not that i hope you will need it Smile ) Thumbs Up

Due to Karma blobness going to zero I'm posting this.

Yes I'd take your test now. The roads aren't that bad and you never know you may actually get a dry day!

I know plenty of people who have passed in the winter, as well as a few who ahve ahd snow days Wink.

Hey, just had to register to reply to this guy... sound like you need to read up a bit more on bikes before posting comments, I have an NSR125 (selling) and just got my VFR so i can kinda answer your question... The NSR is an amazing bike, I truely enjoyed riding it and despite what your local chavs say, it IS better than the RS.... Why? The same reason Ducatis can be a pain in the arse, parts are either off shot bikes or from Italy, and those pasta eating houligans close for a period in the summer, good one! The VFR is the distant brother of the NSR so its pretty similar handling imo. The NSR was pokey but the VFR is of course alot better past 5 metres, I dunno how you can try and compare the 2? Shocked BTW, 275cc doesnt dissapear because of the restriction. Happy riding, keep it rubber-side down Wink
