If you are 19 you can't do your DAS yet, you need to be 21 for that.
However you can do your A2 test, I did this and it came to around £300 including 16 hours of training, bike hire, my test and my theory.
At 19 on an A2 license you can ride any motorcycle, however you need to have it restricted to 33bhp. This can be done by most bike dealers, and generally most bikes will take it quite well as long as they aren't massively over 33bhp in the first place.
However as a side note there are a lot of riders who do not have restrictions and do not have problems with police insurance etc. I don't have a bike that exceeds 33bhp so I don't have to worry about this
I'd say do it, have you got a bike or even a cbt so far? ____________________ Past: 55 Sym Jet, 91 ZZR250, 03 NSR125R. Present: 97 ER-5.

Yeah I've got a CBT, I'm on a CG125 but I'm getting pissed off with having to take the car for longer journeys because I can't go on motorways and it only does 65ish anyway |

Do the A2.
You can do it on your existing bike which drops the price considerably. Shop around too, in Edinburgh the price ranges from £220 to £400 over two days.
The restriction comes off automatically after 2 years and I'm told, although personally I don't believe it myself; some folks don't bother restricting their bike (the fiends... )
I f ever I get my backside into gear, I'll go for the A2. Never wanted a sports bike anyway, I'd just wrap it. |
