STARTER PROBS

My recent starter problem is still puzzling me. My NSR is coming up for its first 3,000 ml service. Recently with this warm weather my bike has taken on a different personality. Its always started instantly in the colder weather, but with the warmer climate, its been a bugger to cold or warm start.
I can hear the electic starter whizzing around, but the engine fails to engage. After about 2-3 attempts which takes about 30-60 secs, it jumps into action. The battery is fine, so no prob there, and i've fitted a new spark plug.

Initially I thought it was running rich, but the honda engineer said it aint. I ain't got a clue whats wrong with it. The last 11 months its been fine, just recently i've been having this prob, which is intermittent.

Any of you guys got any ideas what it could be?

The starter motor is fine, its whizzing around but not engaging. My bikes only 11 months old BTW. My mate said that it might be the bearing between the starter motor and the engine?
