I was asking in the FAQ but I guess I shouldn't clog it up.

I'm 18 with a 33bhp restriction for another 9 months or so, on my R6. To be quite honest, the R6 that I'm looking at taking to the track day isn't restricted and never has been.

I've booked a track day at Donington this summer, and have enquired about whether I'm okay taking my bike on, which I hope I am.

I was wondering if anyone has ridden a track day on a 33bhp license? Did they ask what bike you were on or do they just check your documents when you sign-on. When you show a full license (pink and paper counterpart) then they tick your name, no correlation between the bike you're on?

Or is it checked with your sound check?

I'll post the answer that Donington race control get back to me with, and if anyone could help me I'd really appreciate it?

Is it best to just turn up with my licenses, say it's restricted if anyone asks, by some washers I bought on eBay, and get on the track?

Cheers!

I did Llandow last year on a restricted R6. Not as much fun as you just get stuffed on the straights.

Was still a great day tho! They didn't check any documents, infact i didn't even tell them.

I did Silverstone last year too but i took the restrictors out in the morning of the trackday and put them back in after before riding home. They didn't check the documents, as looking back restricted licences shouldn't have been on there.

Its really not nice doing a trackday on a bike sports bike thats restricted. Take them out before you go on track

This question has been covered at least a squillion times.

Tracks owned by motorsport vision don't allow people under 18, or people with 33bhp licences on their trackdays. Unless they hold a current, valid ACU licence.

I don't think Donny's an MSV track, but it might be. Off the top of my head they own brands, oulton, snetterton and cadwell.

They won't check that your bike's 33bhp even if your licence is. I signed on at Llandow 2 days ago without taking my card licence out of my wallet.

Cheers,

Sorry I did find a few replies and topics vaguly covering it but this is now a clear one for future isn't it Smile

I spoke to 'Bob' who's the sound officer guy in race control, Donington racetrack.

He said that with them, their insurance is whats important, and their insurers said that as long as I have a valid road license for the vehicle that I would to race, then it's okay to take it on the track.

If I have a 33bhp license, then as long as my bike is 'restricted' to 33bhp then their insurers are lovin' it. He said that they have no way of testing a 33bhp license, so rely on the disclaimer that is signed by the rider for this.

Meaning, if you've got a restricted license, you can ride any bike at Donny, as long as it is "restricted" as far as they're concerned.

Should be good!

Thanks a lot... Laughing

Ooops! It's not a race, they'll stress this point in the briefing. It's an opportunity for you to ride as fast as you please in a controlled situation.

You're not racing anybody.

You know what I mean!

I've been to a track day before, but only had 1 actual 15min session on the track (a mates track day but he wanted a breather) so I did attend the briefing etc, and it was at Donington.
