reversed into my bike parked up in a parking space pushing it off the side stand,as i was coming back to it,looked like he was gonna just sod off untill he spotted me,damage snapped clutch lever i keep a spare under my seat,so was able to change it and ride home, rizoma mirror (new) bent badly scratched rear side panel,i rode the short distance home checked the bike over again spotted oil leaking from the side cover on closer inspection the engine cover is cracked from top to bottom,my only worry now is that some metal from the casing has got into the engine and been circulating in the oil on my short trip home, the weird thing is the guy had his insurance document on him in his car,and as i was at my accountants office i just photo copied it ,took down his address and off he went, now should i have informed the police,or do i just phone my insurance company tommoro.

Don't Bother with police.

Always worth asking him if he wants to settle it outside of insurance, that way no1's premium goes up either.

Believe it or not, Premiums rise from non- fault claims too.

Ahh gutted, but as long as you got all his details, reg plate etc. then just call your insurance. The police don't need to know unless he left the scene of an accident or if anyone was injured etc I beleive. This has happened to me twice before in my works car park of all places, but both times I never had any trouble going through insurance & the police weren't involved.

Good luck anyway! Thumbs Up Bit of a bastard like but it may turn out to be a blessing in disguise (getting new fairings etc for your bike!) Mr. Green

Trouble is if you go outside of insurance the guy might start to be funny about the whole thing or try & scrimp out of paying too much (I think the average Joe doesn't realise quite how much it costs for bike repairs!). I didn't notice too much of an increase when I went through the other guys insurance, but it was certainly alot more hassle having to explain it when taking up a new insurance claim or even a quote! Evil or Very Mad

I've got 2 yrs no claims now though so it won't effect me that much anymore I guess.

Settled in cash when I got run into. He did start to quibble over costs etc (just a new front mudguard and a check over of the bike by the garage) but I said he could phone Kawasaki if he wanted for a quote or we could go through insurance (and risk his taxi licence being revoked)...
