15th of June at Knockhill. Its an evening session between 6pm and 8pm. It was cheap and I got a wee discount as I've booked it thought the place I passed my test and I know a bloke that works there.
I'm quite excited already, going to take the day off work and get up to Knockhill early.
Now, how do I tackle it?!?? My bike has just been serviced, tyres are about 800 miles old just now, lots of life in my pads.
Check my fluid levels on the day and adjust the chain and I'm ready?
What about tyre pressures? Just stick with the normal pressures for the road? It will be cooler at that time on night and I'm no Rossi so i'm guessing I won't need to change them??
Can't wait!! ____________________ Old bikes >>> https://www.bikepics.com/members/cc123/

Whip your mirrors off.
Aim for tyre pressures of about 35psi hot (back and front). So maybe 31 or so cold, then check them as soon as you come in from the first session and adjust accordingly. If you stay on road pressures, they'll end up way too high (I've had 50psi in my back tyre on track!)
Job's a goodun. |

I've got a wee tyre gauge thing which is under my seat anyways. Even on a cooler track with a slightly average rider will my tyres heat up that much?! ____________________ Old bikes >>> https://www.bikepics.com/members/cc123/ |

Turns out tyre pressure where irrelevant!
Was pissing down tonight all over Scotland and after a wet 40 mile run to Knockhill, I was presented with 20 odd keen bikers raring to get going on a soaking track. I wasn't so optimistic.
Turns out it was a great night, never realised how much grip you can get on a wet track!! Crazy amount of grip.
Really enjoyed it even though I was soaked through.
Enjoyed it so much I'm booked up for next month! ____________________ Old bikes >>> https://www.bikepics.com/members/cc123/ |
