I likes mine Smile
Good little bike, also bought it due to being discounting to £4k for the spanker, done 3000 miles, wheelies well, goes like stink for a commuter thanks to its R6 based engine (although very revvy - removing cats gets rid of this and retrieves some midrange)

Put locktite on the taxdisc holder and replace plastic numberplate bolts Wink

Visit SBN.com
And the fazer forum in my sig to look at some and get info.

I used it as such for 7000 miles, with no problems. Excellent mirrors and riding position, while the lack of oomph at low revs actually helps maintain control on crap surfaces/in cack weather. When you get more confident (it was my first bike) or want to shift a bit, you rev it up past 10,000 and hold on for dear life.

Ideal bikes, I'm tempted to get an S2 with lower fairings rather than investing in a smaller 'real' 600.

I'm not saying that it isn't a good bike for commuting on, just that it falls into the bracket of fun naked bikes in my opinion.

Something like a CB500 is a more out and out commuter.

The new '07 Hornet is supposed to be much better, with more mid range.

I prefer the looks of the Yamahas, and their handling characteristics seem to go down well with road testers.

I think for a mere £3600 you definately could not go wrong with a FZ6, they look quite good and I reckon they would be good fun.

Really?

I remember reading a magazine road-tester complaining that while his after-market cans sounded nice, they added sod all to his performance. I wouldn't mind a bit of extra shove or a fruitier tone, but I prefer the stock items to all of the replacement pipes I've seen.

Best thing to do if you want to keep the original pipes is do what i have just done - get the link pipe from arrow that removes the mid cat.
Around £60-70, +5ish Hp, More midrange.
Order from B&C with part no. 71272MI.

Hi,

Well I own a FZ6 Fazer on an 04 plate and will have owned it for a year once I reach August.

Good Points.

Very cheap insurance
Goes like stink between 10-14K revs
Excellent handling
Very confortable (Rode from Worcester- Brands Hatch and Back) no aches or pains
Not to expensive to buy (mine bough last August, 04 plate 7K miles £2950

Bad points
Does lack midrange- needs plenty of gear changing to get a bead on but when engine is worked it is most rewarding.
May be makes me look ' bit sat up and bet' riding position but I am 6 foot 3 and as I said very confortable.

It does the job for me Thumbs Up

Cheers

Jlo

Erm the new shape has been out for ages, unless they've re-vamped it again.

The '07 model looks much nicer than the '04 model, but the magazines suggest that it has little extra to offer in the way of midrange; however the slightly jerky fueling has been amended.

An '07 model with lower fairings and hard luggage would be cool Very Happy
