Removing Speedo/Tacho needles...

Has anyone ever dismantled their clocks?...I took mine apart today, aiming to remove/replace the backing on the dials, but got a little stuck when I couldn't take the needles off the clock faces

Do they pull straight off?...'cos I've tried that (ish), and they don't seem to want to budge, and I really don't want to break them unnecessarily...

I don't think they come off - if you put water with a bit of fairy liquid on the new sticker, it should slide around enough to pass it over the needle and then stick down after that - squeegy the water out with a credit card after you get the right position.
