Nope, CBT used to have a 3yr life until Feb 1st 2001 when it got changed to 2yrs.

Yeah, the CBT used to last 3 years but now it only lasts 2. the provisional only used to last 2 years but now it lasts about 50!!

When my CBT cert. is due to expire, can i simply take the CBT test again in order to carry on riding on L Plates? I heard somewhere that if the CBT runs out, you have to wait a year before taking it again.

You don't have to wait the year anymore - just retake CBT and off you go....
