Currently, my bike does not have an immobiliser or alarm installed. I'm even wondering if it's worth getting an alarm on a bike..?

Worth it?

only for insurance discounts , big beefy chains are more effective at anti theft , if you ever hear/see an alarm go off in the city centre everybody ignores it completely. Say those big beefy Almax £150 ones , apparently indestructable.

An alarm and immobiliser makes it harder for someone to steal your bike, and it certainly gives you piece of mind.

I have one fitted that i got from ebay for like £25, not bad..

The 25 quid ones fitted on ebay rely on you splicing a wire from your main igntion (brown wire) which according to my mechanic is what fucked the alarm up and my battery - It could have been a shit relay - but all i'm trying to say with the 25 quid ones - buyer beware, if it doesn't work after 30 days, you've got no going back - i read somewhere that one of theirs packed in after a similar amound of time too.

Only Thatcham approved alarms make a difference to the insurance.

However, all Thatcham approved security products are rated and you will only ever get one discount no matter how many items with the approval are fitted. It will always be the one with the highest rating.

As for fitting an alarm, Its up to personal choice, I have one on my bike as I will hear it if someone tries it on with my bike at home. I would rather know about it than go outside one morning to find damage all over the bike where some scrote has tried to make off with it.
