I've seen a bike I like (ZX6R), but has some original decals taken off by the current owner, who didn't like them.

Where could I get some originals from? I'd want the stickers back on, perfectly positioned etc, as if it was original - I can't put stickers on straight or without bubbling them, to save my life! Anyone got any experience in the art of "stickering" Laughing

Clean the surface thoroughly.
Mark out the position of the stikers using a soft pencil and tape measure.
Get stiuckers form dealer as those lazer jobs look shite next to the real McCoy.

Chose a warm dry day if not in a workshop.

Stick one end first after peeling about an inch of backing off.
Press thwe decal onto the surface using a rolled up rag to help even deployment.

If you fuck up then peel off carefully and try again.
When you are happy with the position and all air bubbles are out then rub down firmly using the rag.

To remove stubborn air bubbles pierce a hole using a pin at one end of the bubble and push the air towards the hole.

Do not rub to hard or you will damage the decal.

Taht's one way.

Hi there, first post here.
One way that I have always been told to apply large decals easily is to clean the surface thoroughly then spray a mixture of dish washing liquid and water onto the surface. Then apply the decal, moving it into position where you want it, then wiping all of the air bubbles and water out from underneath it. Once the soap and water mixture dries the decal will be stuck on perfectly. The mixture makes the surface slick so the sticker doesn't stick right away, leaving some room for moving around and sorting out air bubbles.
You obviously don't want to spray bubbly soap onto the surface so just use a little. I did this to put some decals on a vehicle I had and it worked well.
Oh, and forgive me if you don't understand some of my wording, I'm from the USA.
Tiff.

Thanks for the advice - my main concern is positioning... I want it to be exactly as the original, correct angles etc - god only knows how to get that perfect!

get some pictures of a standard bike with the decals on. print them off or have them on your digital camera. then have it near to the bike when positioning your decals.

i recently did this for my bike. i wanted both sides of the bike to be the same (as you do). so i took a picture of one side of the bike when i had finished it. then when doing the other side ,i had the picture for reference. it looks mint and professional. Thumbs Up

hope this info helps you out.

oh, that web-site mentioned previously by jerrycdx is spot on. they do original kits for allsorts of bikes. check them out.

all the best.

Bit of windowlene on the fairings before you stick them on give them a bit of 'slip' so you can move them slightly if you need to.
