hey guys, this is my first time on bcf Smile
anyway; i have a 2003 peugeot vivacity with 8000 miles on the clock, it starts and idles fine but will only occasionly actually rev high enough to move, this is a frequent problem and does not build up the revs. if on the rare occasion it does move it will only do this for about 30 seconds or so and then go back to not revving again, everything is standard on it.
Im at my wits end with this bloody bike so any guidance would be appreciated, thankyou!

A good friend of mine had this issue, he simply phoned up peugeot and asked for a new Flux capacitor, they sent one out at a cost of £4.99.

you can go in the shop and get them to test it, the test is basicly riding it at excaly 88mph to see if it works.

good luck.

I'll get some plutonium ordered aswell

Have you tried anything at all to resolve the issue? or is asking for help your first step to recovery? Laughing The first place I would look at is the throttle cable, detach it from the carburettor, usually just a single Philips head will do, pull the throttle out and see if the pin moves up and down freely, if so then I would move onto cleaning the carb, I would also drain the fuel tank and replace it with fresh fuel if I was you. when was the last time you changed your spark plug and do you have a decent tool box laying around?

ps how mechanically competent are you?

i have recently replaced the carb to manifold gasket and it is as tight as possible, and drained and put in new fuel. i have previously cleaned the carb though twice which didnt seem to resolve the problem. it has a brand new spark plug in it and ht lead. I am a car mechanic by trade so i am mechanically minded. this bike has just confused me abit Confused

Take a look at the condition of the reed valve, I've had similar issues to this due to a damaged reed valve block. Also have you checked to see if there's sufficient compression?

theres seems to be a fair amount of compression, but when i took the reed valve off there was some metal shavings sitting on them and in the hole where the reed valve sits.
