Hey guys,

Since Goose's information on him looking at a SV650 after he passes his test... i have been looking too.... i am falling for it...

You dont want an SV650 you want a Cagiva Raptor 650 same engine but much shinier - very popular but unfortunatly very rare.

The faired one (SV650S) is group 11, and the unfaired one (SV650) is group 10.

Personally I'd have the SV over an RVF, cuz of the sweet sound (when a race can is fitted) and they look well smart with a belly pan or full lower fairing. There's loads of mods available for them

The SV650S should be group 10, and the SV650 group 9...

They are nice bikes, and just as bulletproof as the Honda 400s, mechanically...

My main dislike is that the bike is very "no thrills" straight out of the crate...although you can trick it up a fair bit with all of the aftermarket parts available. Suzuki basically used "standard" parts for the bike, so even though the forks, shock, yoke etc. are all "quality", they can be better (and I'm not talking about spangly Ohlins stuff, either).

As someone has already pointed (in a different thread), the SV is a very new bike, but you should be able to pick one up for around the same price as an older RVF. They apparently make very good projects, as the subframe etc. are pretty solid.

SV650's are nice but they are pretty sluggish! and are definately not the fastest 600 street bike around! How about a Fazer, Hornet or Bandit??

But then again they are very cheap second hand and as already mentioned can be tarted-up loads!

summy

i orginally budgeted for 2000-2500 on a new bike, and i wasnt planning to sell the moped

now that i am selling the moped, i can get about a grand for it, so thats another thousand onto how much i can spend on the bike

ive seen nice examples for 3000 hopefully i can get a nice one for that

i also really like the fact they have only been around since 99 so chances are most wont have been ragged 1-2 owners max, so yes 3000 and i really like the yellow one, blue is good two, and its the faired one im after, like yours :)

Teh SV650 engine in my Raptor is downtuned from the one that is put in the SV650 bikes and one thing it isnt is sluggish. The hippy who drives big bikes, including a bandit was impressed with the performance describing it as frantic and brilliant fun to ride. And I have my doubts that the 600 bandit would outdo the SV650. The hornet however was one of my possibles when gettign a bike but they were not cheep and the insurance was not favorable.

The only thing about the raptor that is italian is the styling all the parts are Suzuki. Style mixed with reliability and easily obtainable parts Smile

My friends Ducatti Monster Dark is however falling apart.

It is slow, but there are are slower 125s out there. The pickup aint too bad, and it pulls nicely right from low revs right the way thru (unlike a 2 stroke where you need to rev to like 7k to go anywhere)
