ZX6R brakes

My mate has an R reg ZX6R that has been off the road for about three years.

The front brake calipers are seized to hell so he is looking to get another set for it, are there any other bikes that use the same front calipers that can be fitted?

ive got the same bike and my calipers have siezed so im off to the brakers to get a set. £40 each ive been quoted.im told aslong as they are 4 pot caliper they shuld match up dont have to be off a zx6r f3

So would you recommend just stripping them down and giving them a good clean and changing the seals?

I'd recommend stripping them and seeing what they need before any money is spent.

Someone here recently PM'd me asking for a full set of 14 pistons and seals for a ZX, I quoted them around the £280 mark and that was cheap. Why buy what you don't need.

Just done mine on my 98 ZX6, I bought a new seal kit from www.wemoto.co.uk think it was around £52 but cant really remember. It wasn't really a big job just time consuming as mine really were bad. Buy a bottle of aerosol brake cleaner to blast all the dirt out of the calipers once stripped. Also pump each piston out a bit before you disconnect them as you really will have fun trying to get them out if you dont. Apply some rubber grease or brake fluid to each of the new seals so the pistons go back in easily. While the pads are out rough them up with some wet n dry to take any glaze off the surface

Well worth it once done my brakes feel 10x better.
