God this shit riles me.

You pay road tax to fix the roads.

So why don't they spend the road tax on a) removing the crap from the road surface, and b) fixing the armco?

Bastards!

This is normal procedure.
Farmers can do you for fencing and livestock too. I took out 20' of fence and hedge from a farmers field once but wasn't billed for it.

Find out who shit the road and pass on the bill.

I complained to a builders in Glasgow for their trucks slabbering shite from their building site for 200yds down the main road. I only wanted them to deal with the problem.
The silly we lassie they put at the front desk said, "They were too busy." .... Shocked
Cool.
I called Strathclyde police who went round to the site office.

Their nice big BMW got covered in shite driving there so it made things worse for the builders.

I thought it was kind of the Policeman to call me back and let me know crime had been prevented. Wink

Your insurance will pick up the bill as long as all docs are in order.
ie mot, license and servicing etc. (Joking about the service)

Cheer up. At least your insurance is bearing the brunt of it, and you're OK which is the main thing Smile

Despite the fact it was 11 days ago, if i were you i'd phone up your council's highway agencie and tell them where u crashed, they then have to investigate, if they find the road unsafe for use due to a spillage or whatever then you might not have to pay damages.

I had a drop outside a car park which turned out to be from a spillage and the car park owners gave me £500 to fix the damage to my bike as a gesture of good will!

So yer, phone highway agencies and get them to investigate where it happened just in case there may be something there to back you up Thumbs Up

Remove the Crap!!! Fix the Armco!!!

Jeez... They don't even use the money to fix the roads properly anyway. And you expect all that other stuff.

What the hell are the Government gonna do for Xmas, if you want them to spend all the money on the roads? Whistle

Personally I think this answers your earlier question regarding whether you should inform you insurance company or not. My answer would be to put the whole lot through your insurance, yeah your premium will go up but it's what you pay fully comp and protected no-claims for. They'll fix the Armco, sort your bike, sue the council/highways, and pay you NHS RTA bill, it's what they're there for to get the cack off your back. Karma Thumbs Up

Cath

Do the whole bike on insurance if you have to pay for the Armco

Do you have NCB? If not, I doubt your premium will go up /that/ much.

My opinion anyway.

Its unfortunate that you are being chased to pay for the damaged armco, but if you did cause damage to it then they are quite within their rights to expect you to pay for the repairs and that is why they are asking for your insurance details.

As you may or may not be aware, your insurance cover exists primarily to protect innocent third parties against injury and property damage caused by you and your vehicle. In this case the (council?) are the third party and your bike caused the damage, hence you and your insurance are expected to foot the bill.

All ambulance call outs are billed to the recipient. Last time I heard it was £13 but that was a few years ago.

Hi

As well as the ambulance charge agter an RTA the NHS can hit the insurance for your treatment too. However if you are not claiming they dont make you pay instead.

Regards
Charlotte

I never got billed when an ambulance was called out to me, but then I didn't have to go to hospital.

I had a car accident a couple of years back, and hit an Armco. From what the copper told me, it would be expensive to replace - but because the accident wasn't my fault I didn't have to pay.

In my case the police and an ambulance were already there - that being because someone had stolen a vehicle and flipped it into a field in the same place 30 minutes before, having left diesel all over the bend of a dual carriageway. The bill for the barrier, I was told, would be sent to the guy who crashed before me if he was caught, and if he wasn't then the insurance would pay. With it not being my fault at all, and a copper there who watched me crash to back me up, I was told there's no way I'd be paying out.

It's more than likely that the insurance will pick up the bill as I've never heard of anyone having to dip into their own pockets for Armco - so don't worry too much!
