I can recommend a set of bridgestones 021's, the new version of 020's.
I used to get 7 to 8k from an 020 rear, have done 9500 with at least another 1000 to go on the 021. I do 1000mls per week commuting.

The bike is/was a VFR800 (now a right off) the 021's corner great aswell with their duel tyre tech.

Now riding a new SV1000 insurance loan bike which is shod with michelin pilots, can't vouch for the milage yet but the cornering grip is very good, nuggets without any scary moments yet!

Go for the 021's, you won't be dissapointed Thumbs Up

I can recommend continental road attacks (again).... I just got through a set and they did nearly 8000 miles.
I was ready to put another set on but my local dealer doesn't do them and recommended trying the new michelin pilot road 2's (big surprise from a french bike shop). They only went on yesterday so I haven't had chance to try them out properly yet but I've heard very good things, top in independent tests for both wet grip and milage against other competing tyres.
PS I turned up to pick the bike up only to find they'd put pilot powers on instead!? after telling the mechanic he tried to tell me that they were the equivalent sport-touring tyre to a conti road attack! after a debate he finally admitted that he'd made a mistake and changed them while I waited... you can't trust anyone!

go for 20's or 21's. Mine lasted for quite a while and the dunlop qualifiers, though great for grip, are as tough as cottage cheese in comparison.. Smile

I had Pilot Road's on the SV, and in the wet, they are awful... Milage isn't too bad, but not confidant inspiring.

yeah I heard bad things about the old pilot roads also.... but the pilot road 2's are new, apparently with class-leading wet grip. I just got home from a 50 mile attempt to scrub them in a bit and despite having a cm or so of chicken strip on each side still to scrub off, I'm impressed so far.
It always feels nice to be on fresh tyres but there seems to be more feedback and the bike wants to fall on its side quicker, it was a bit disconcerting at first. I'm planning a longer ride out tomorrow to properly test them out, but I find them very confidence inspiring, I kept having to remind myself that the tyres are brand new and I should take it easy but I really wanted to crank it over more and get rid of those chicken strips Smile
