Picture the scene, you ride to go shopping, get off and start to browse for something nice and you have the awkward task of carrying your helmet.

I tend to hold mine by my finger tips around the chin piece (bottom uppermost), in this cold weather this tends to be a little slippery due to the condensation from the ride.

Arm though the face and holding by the strap just seems a little uncomfortable and well ShiftyEmbarassed

So, how do you carry the lid without looking like a pillock?

I have a D ring and a little lock at the rear, but not sure on safety and the fact that the lid is bigger than the bike Laughing

The local chippy didn't seem to like it last night, think they thought I was about to demand pies with menaces, or something. Confused

If I'm supermarket shopping, helmet goes in the biggest trolley I can get.

Other shopping - hmm, haven't really done much other shopping on my bike!! Guess it'd just be hand through from underneath, fingers wrapped over chin bit.

Would never leave a helmet attached to a bike. I don't like having it out of my sight.

I usually carry it by holding the chin protector bit, usually keep the visor open to do that, also means my gloves don't fall out.

If my hands are cold and I want to put them in my pockets or I want both hands free, I just slide my arm through the visor, and the elbow armour holds it up for me

I have that, but it is kind of awkward to wear, the rope sticks into my neck when I wear it, so now just carry the helmet with my hand through the front holding the chin piece.

I do the strap up and carry it around by that (which you are supposed to do as holding by the chin piece apparently deforms/weakens the front over time - according to RiDe mag at least)

Alternatively if i have a rucksack on I will do the strap up over one of the bag straps and let it hang down beside me.

Some shops let you leave you lid at the customer service desk, my local morrisons does. The girls on the desk know me and I have showed them how to place it correctly and to let me know if it is ever dropped or anything dropped on it so far no problems with them, and it saves you trying to carry a tankbag, helmet and shopping basket!!!
