After an annoying slow speed topple yesterday coming out of work and bending my bars slightly (not enough to see but plenty enough to feel) I went to my local bike shop and bought the only pair of bars they had in! They're meant to be for a YZ250 but they apparently fit XJ600's too.....

Before:

Drop handlebar XJ anyone?

They feel really straight compared to the old grandad bars and there's loads more leverage so it's easier to turn in (not that that was a problem anyway). They were a bit of an annoyance to fit and took me way longer than it should of done thanks to having to re-route most of the cables coming off the bars Evil or Very Mad and only just about managing to fit everything onto them. I haven't managed to fit my old bar ends on yet as I can't get the bits out of my old bars so it's a bit vibey at the moment and I'm also pitched a bit further forward than before so It'll be interesting to see if I notice any long ride comfort issues. I think they look good though and overall I'm pleased with them Thumbs Up.

I'm not too bothered about the spill, you wouldn't even notice the damage unless I pointed it out so I was really lucky and luckily Gem wasn't on the back either so thats good Smile I'm more bothered by the fact that now when I reach 80 I can't tell the grand kids "well I've been riding over 60 years and not had a single accident, back in my day blah blah blah".... I'm just nursing a bruised ego really!

The project is currently propped up on an old plastic box and it's front wheel while a mechanic friend is seeing if he can sort the forks out for me. After that I'm going to take it for an MOT so I have some sort of checklist to go off and when that's done the fun will begin Twisted Evil I'll be updating the old thread on it or just making a new one when I've done a bit more on it Smile

Cheers, Rob
