Hi my battery is dead after standing for several months and i just cracked open my tail unit to charge up my battery and the terminals are covered in mysterious green/white gunk... looks like its bubbled abit too... is this normal? is it ok to use? bikes also been on its side so dunno if that means the battery fluids etc has spilled out to create the mess? cheers!

Green=Copper, so it's probably the batery acid eating away at it when it was over on it's side. Scrape all the gunk off/rub it off with a cloth, clean up the terminals and stick it back together. Should be fine, but check for cracks in the battery casing. Personally I'd just chuck the battery and get another.

Pour some Hot water over it all. This will disolve the sulphates you have there.
The corrosion is due to dampness and poor conections and galvanometry stuff.

Spray with WD40 to dispel the water after.
Yo umay find a scrub with a tooth brush helps too.

Are you sure its not white grease put on the terminals to stop them corroding? Seen allot of new bikes with it on.
