Expansion chambers

I'm sure i read somewhere that 2t bikes owe much of there performance to the expansion chamber in the exhuast.

How come then two strokes such as the KH125 or Yamaha RXS don't have expansion chambers?

They do have expansion chambers, or to put it correctly - exhausts with an expansion effect. Just that the chambers are inside a cylindrical skin with the silencer, rather than seperate entities like you would see on a more sporty 2T bike.

hmm interesting. Still having played with a KH exhaust the expansion chamber must only be the size of a pack of cigerettes, compared the to the melon sized ones on TZRs, NS's etc..

Buy the way, the reason i'm asking is i saw a Micron pipe for a KH125 and was thinking wtf!

You don't need an expansion chamber on a bike for it to run.

Some (250cc+) bikes in India are banned from having expansion chambers.

They just make them produce much more power.
