i have been given a nice race can for my bike but it has 2 problems.

1 its a stainless can but looks like its been rubbed with wet and dry giving it a dull lightly scratched appearance.

2 the band that says 'not for road use'

a friend said he 'polished' the not for road use band out?
any ideas how?

also whats the best thing for polishing the whole can and getting them surface abrasions out.

autosol is good for polishing up, available in tubes from most car accesory sort of places

A polishing mop, even the small ones that go in a drill, will easily get rid of small scratches. If they are too deep then work your way up through grades of wet and dry, used wet, until you get a smooth, slightly dull finish.

You can do it with autosol by hand but it will take forever.

To polish you need to get all the scratches ou. To do this means removing surface layers of metal until you reach good metal

Start with course grind working to fine polish if scratches are deep.

Not easy.
Use power tools.

You can save that diagram if you like.
