I've got a 95 yammy SR 125. Had her for 6 months. She's doing the job. However recently there's been a few issues to concern me. First of all, the bike starts to feel really uncomfortable at around 45 - 50 mph. As this is my first bike, I don't know if I'm "thrashing" it and whether its caused any problems. During my training while on a dual carriageway my instructor told me 2 get up to the speed limit but I was really struggling at about 55mph. Since then the bike seems even less comfortable, I dont like taking it beyond 40ish. Today I was doing about 45 and there was a jolt. Very similar to the feeling of the rev limiter. But was it? The bike also seems to feel dry. I'm not sure how else to describe it.

Sorry for the long post I'm just really keen to get to the bottom of it.

Thanks in advance

Sounds like its in need of a service.

Chain and sprockets OK ? Oil been changed recently ? Plenty of it in ?
Would very much doubt that its got a rev limiter anyway.

What do you mean by uncomfortable ? Lots of vibration ?

Check your chain tension. That jolt was probably the chain jumping.

yeah I've checked the chain. It does need tensioning a bit but its not seriously bad. It could be alot worse. Yes uncomfortable as in alot of vibration. I don't know if this is common on all 125s as many of them claim to be able to do 60mph+

I've booked my test so hopefully selling soon, although I ought to do the honest thing and get it serviced before I sell it. Hope it doesn't end up expensive though.

If you know any other bikers, get someone to jump on and give it a little test.

The jolt could be a misfire, and if you don't have any/much experience it can be very unsettling.

Chains are also very important, it's amazing how much difference to a bike a dead or dieing chain can make.

Much agreed with Gaz, you could always ask your instructor Razz

ahh yeah thats a good idea. I've got a friend who has years and years of experience so I'll ask him. If not I'll ask my instructor what he thinks when I go for my next training session. Cheers
