It's been a while since I've done fork seals myself, I need a refresher!!

Any guides anywhere? Do I need to take the forks apart to replace the seal or just take forks off and take seals out and replace?

I also got to change the oil.

I seriously can't remember much of it so need a full guide if possible... I've got a manual which is a bit of a help but only for a complete strip down which I don't think I need to do!

CBR 600 F Sport.

Seals are an internal part, so a 'full' strip down would be needed.

I've a service manual for a SV1000 I can send you, it's pretty much the same if it's not USD forks.

if they are right way up forks hen you dont need to do a full strip down.

ok here we go.
1 calipers off
2 wheel and mud guard off
3 loosen clip ons, and top and bottom yoke clamp bolts
4 slide forks out
5 undo top of forks and drain oil (take of of spacer spring and washer locations)
6 pop off dust seal and slide up the fork.
7 pull out the little clip that holds the seal in place
8 the tricky bit (a bit of a cheats way) get a wood screw(self tapping)
screw that into the oil seal (the inside of the seal is metal so its quite hard) once it has purchase then with a pair of pliers pull the sucker out.

now put the new oil seal in, clip and dust seal, then slide the forks back into position. wheel ect back on the bike

now fill with the correct amount of oil, stick the spring washer and spacer inside the fork tube and do up the top fork nut thing.
thats where a helping hand is..... well help ful Very Happy

now thats how i do it.. it may not be the "correct way to do it"
but it works and its quick
