Short Version -

I turned up to work this morning , a good ten - fifteen minutes early as usual , and the guy who owns the company was there , and he basically made me redundant .

Im pretty sure im not entitled to a payout as i've only been there 4 - 5 months, But I am not worried about that unduly as I have been offered a job elsewhere already. Question

However , he owes me nearly a months wages and is refusing to pay them , so I am considering squealing about a few Elf n' Safety laws the company is blatantly flouting , and a few tax fiddles that are going on , and the fact that he is basicaly defrauding teh comany via teh staff purchase / discount scheme.

I know i need to speak to the HSE about teh health n saftey issues , but who do I need to contact about the tax and fraud issues ?

Cheers

Alec

Pay a visit to the citezens advice they should point you in the right direction. But would think its customs & excise that would deal with fraud.
Sounds like you are well rid of the company.

Aye , I did consider that. I'll have to pay the CAB a visit tomorrow morning. And mate , You could't be more right. i think im better off out. Only things im Gonna miss are my manager , who i got on really well with , and being able to get huge dicounts off car parts n audio etc.

It seems to me that hes gonna be skint soon anyway , so i reckon other staff will be going the same way as me.

FWIW there's a proper reduncancy procedure that firms have to follow. However, if you haven't been there long then this may not apply. Best get some decent advice.

Some solicitor firms will give you a free 1 hour consultation. IMO worth a few 'phone calls.

If he owes you money, he'll still have to pay you. Take him to a tribunal. I'd do it quick before he starts declaring bancruptcy.
