Whats the current setup?

Is the broadband line connected to a router or is it straight to a modem?

If it's a router it's normally just a case of a network card & a cable from router to the PC.

If it's a modem, wireless routers aren't especially expensive these day's so it will be easier just to get hold of one and a wifi card.

As said, it depends on what she has already.

If she's on a modem the it will cost you from £30 for a router.
I've got a wireless one for the kids and it works ok. https://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/109521

Um, im a bit behind on this sort of thing...

From what i can see he's got a modem and a separte dialer thingy... Confused

Pretty sure i'd need a modem and cable, but the house is big and my room is on the complete opposite side...

Do whats already been said mate, you'll be able to buy a wireless router, if your computer doesn't already have a wireless network card, then you can buy them for peanuts, some wireless routers you can actually get in a bundle with either usb wireless receivers that you could just plug into your computer you can get these between £30 - £60

See the Diagram I drew, too me 20 minutes Very Happy, what you will need is a ADSL router ( wirless if you do not want the hassle of having a RJ45 cable running all the way up the stairs. But your PC/ laptop upstairs will have to a wireless card.

This would technically be all you need,

connecting to upstairs pc wirelessly and downstairs wired.
