A friend of mine had his bike stolen and needed to get a replacement quick. He spotted a bike for sale on line and agreed a 'blind' purchase with the seller (i.e seller brings it down and he'll buy). Distance is 100 miles. It was all a bit rushed and my mate phoned him a good few times to make sure the deal was still on (sometimes the phone never got answered). The thing is the bloke said he would phone to let him know when he set off, as he heard nothing he rang and rang and rang again.

Bloke bringing bike down is stressed (phone constantly ringing). He won't answer as he's driving. Bloke bringing bike down gets within 30 miles of mates house and realises he's forgot the bike keys. Goes back gets keys, more calls, more stress but he's back on track. Get's within 5 miles of mates house and the bike falls off the back of the trailer. He's stopped for fuel and as he's tightening straps my mate has rang, spoke to bloke as it's getting late in day now. Bloke forgets to do one strap up through my mate ringing.

Mate says "I wanted a bike and not a puzzle", owner has threatened to sue saying he'll knock £50 off but my mate is responsible for damage as he harassed him (12 calls in 2 hours).

Does this bloke have any grounds for a claim?

Pics of bike now mangled.

Totally agree.
Also as far as I can see that trailer doesn't appear to be particularly suitable for transporting a bike.

Anyhow, how could he be harassed by the phone calls if he doesn't answer his phone whilst driving?

I'd say he has no grounds for a claim, he does however have grounds for being done for driving with an unsafe load.

Why did he have to un-strap the bike to get fuel?

Thumbs Up

Marks on exhaust?

Strap too tight across the fairing + Big bump = smashed fairing

Odd that 1 loose (why, should not come loose if done correctly) strap out of 5 causes the bike to fall over.

Why no padding on the straps to protect frame and fairing.....

Also FFS rotate pictures so they are in the correct plane to view Mr. Green

He should look on the bright side. At least his phone didn't explode the petrol station.

I don't know about anybody else, but I'd be annoyed too.
"I'll be setting off around 11"
"Are you still coming?"
"Yes."
"Are you still coming?
"Mmm"
"Are you still coming?"
"Stop, I'll call you when I'm there."

12 missed calls.

I'd probably have kicked the thing over myself.

Just got back from an epic ride out. 125 miles, that new tyre is awesome now it's scrubbed in.

Roger Borg, sent a text to Keith, he gets his kids once a week so I don't like to disturb him on Sundays. When he replies I'll ask him for details.

Paul Fzs - thanks for the link but I just get this.

My thoughts exactly.

And now he seems to have gone off on a complete tangent. No wonder the tax system is overloaded Wink
