Heres a few pics i took at donnington, was miles away from the track - for some of them i was using a 48x zoom Shocked

Nice pics, the panaramic shots with single riders gives the pictures a certain atmosphere that may be lacking from a simple well composeed shot.

I do have a dodgy laptop screen so this next statement may be a little wrong if not weird.

The pictures look like ones from the 70's. Like the race coverages on the news or even Robbie Williams music video when he is the racing driver. The pics remind me of those, slightly out of focus, grainy and like I mentioned before has atmosphere by the bucket load.

There is a reason for the low quality.
Donnington has the fences miles away from the track, i had a 12x optical and 48x combined digital zoom to play with, but when i use the 48x the size and quality of the image gets lower and lower.

Also trying to capture 200mph bikes when your using a focal size 1/48th of the max is bloody hard, i had it on 1/1000th/s shutter speed and it was still a pain in the arse Laughing

Yeah donnigton fence is a right pain in the arse, ive got loads of photos when was down but the fence does ruin a lot of them. I took my pregnant gf with me and did not want to drag her all over the place for good shots.

Nice pictures folks, you do loose a little quality with the shots obviously because of cropping them. but there are good shots there...

I dont get what u mean about loosing quality by cropping them? You dont loose quality when cropping only if you are zooming into the original photo.

I prefer to cut out bits of photo's that dont have to be there.
