Can't answer any of your question but I've only ever seen 1 on the road and same with the FZ1.

Great looking bikes.

It looks very nice but wouldn't it have been a good idea to find out a little about it before you brought it, rather then afterwards Smile

Engine derived from the R6 so you'll need to give it some revs

Absolutely STUNNING bikes to look at, I love the ones with bikini fairing, they're the only semi naked bike I would seriously think of buying.

Loving mine i have to say.

Ok here we go quickly.
Arrow Asap get rid of the cat in the midpipe, replace with arrow straight through one, bout 5bhp increase and you actually get a midrange.
Arrow Bellypan either the stock yammy one(£150) or the one i got for £70 inc carriage.
Arrow Yes it has a fuel gauge, can change the clocks to Km/ph by pressing a button, has odometer(also trip a/b function) and a nifty little mode that displays your revs in numbers Laughing
Arrow Avoid nails Laughing

It will happily keep up with a lot of bikes if ridden well and goes like stink for the class of bike it is.
The nekid ones look cool i must admit, but i likes me fairing.
Two places to visit for ya, first one is the owners club in my sig and the second is here to oggle at 60 odd pages of fz6's.

Here ya go toby\/

Good choice. An 05 FZ6-N was my first bike. There are some things you'll need though to get her looking nice. Get a Puig belly pan as the puig belly pan for the FZ6 is the best looking one out there. A baglux tank cover (go for the kristal look). And of course, get rid of the collector box and get a straight through pipe. The Laser extreme is by far the best choice for the FZ6...

Here's a modded FZ6 I rather like...

Ok, i didn't fit it to this one, but i did have one on my 750 for a week, they're fuel injected which means throttle stop, personally i think they're dangerous.

My zee topped out at 98mph with it in, stops you turning the grip all the way round, which meant about 1/4, not sure how much you'l get on the fazer.

At a guess due to the fact its lightweight you may get a ton if you're lucky.

100 is way fast enough for me (for now) but how quick did it get there?
And are they easy to remove?

Didn't remove it myself, probably get there quite a bit slower as you'l be effectively short shifting on a high revving bike.

Its not all bad though, the van with my bike in is on its way over as im typing this

If you're old enough DAS without a shadow of a doubt.

Im the ripe old age of 22 almost 23, Its just the large cost of the DAS, how much are lessons normally?

Erm, not sure- i would expect it to be the same for both, just DAS takes more days so techincally costs more, 2-3 days training plus test should be no more than about £400.

If you've already done training then i guess that 2-3 days would be enough.

Btw don't qoute me on any of this because i've had a few to drink, although i think my spelling and grammar are still quite astute for someone of my insobriety.

I'm riding an '06 FZ6 at the moment (courtesy bike). I have to be honest, it's a big disappointment. I had more fun with my crapped out, '99 model with 53k miles on the clock that's desperately in need of some TLC.
It has a lot of good features, but it's badly let down by a couple of horrible faults.

Good points of particular mention:

Arrow It's extremely well balanced - I can ride it at 0mph feet on pegs without wobbling and not just in a straight line either. I can also balance it while stationary for a couple of seconds. Couldn't do that with any other bike - well, the Bandit 650 is very well balanced too, but not to the same extent as the FZ6.

Arrow It looks the shit - need I say more?

Arrow It handles very well and you can chuck it around in confidence.

Horrible faults:

Arrow The throttle is snatchy as hell. It needs a lot more clutch than it should and if you accelerate from 15mph in first gear with the clutch disengaged it will lurch forward quite violently. Cruising at 35mph in second gear the throttle feels like a dead weight, very sluggish.
The first day I had it I kept stalling it. It was almost like I was on my CBT all over again, I've never had to actually relearn basic bike control on riding a new bike before and I've ridden seven different bikes in a short space of time.

Arrow It generally feels a lot less powerful than the older Fazer FZS. It certainly has a lot less usable torque - the middle of the rev range is pretty flat, the low end is marred by the infernal snatchy throttle and the top end is not overly usable on the road.
If you wound open the throttle on the FZS, it would provide an instant "hell yeah!"-esque wild rush. Not so here.

Arrow It's probably the underseat exhausts or something, but it emits a hell of a lot of heat which makes my right leg uncomfortably hot, particularly at the lights. I could feel the heat from the exhaust in my arse today after I'd been riding for some time. Granted, it's minor, but it's also totally unnecessary.

My verdict on the FZ6 is that it's a prototype for a brilliant bike. So many things are just right, but some fatal flaws completely let it down.
