Help! Basic NSR maintenance

Hi, I just got myself a UK '02 NSR 125 and am loving it to bits. I'm a total bike newbie though and haven't got a clue about how to maintain the damned thing. It's second-hand and didn't come with a manual, which the oh-so-helpful stickers on the bike tell me to read!

What goes in where and when? I'm told two-strokes need oil mixed in with the petrol, what type and how much, how often? The oil light on the front is coming on intermitently when I start her up, and also the little MAX/MIN thing is showing nearly empty... I haven't done too many miles yet but I figured I should do something before my pride and joy explodes and takes me along for a ride into the nearest ditch!

Oil goes in the tank of 1820's bike not new ones! 2 stroke oil is under the tank!

hi wulfy, im in a similar situation 2 u, totally new 2 it all but loving it already! keep an eye on the petrol, around a fiver should top it up, and every maybe 2 times u fill it with petrol, fill the oil, as the 2 mix so it gets thru oil quickly. Avoid riding it when the oil light comes on if u can, try not to let oil level hit minimum at any stage, no good will come of this if u do! as long as u keep an eye on it and u dont do anything silly, you'll be sorted!

btw, the oil is under the tank, bike should come with a little tool kit, use an alum key to lift the tank and you will see where the oil goes, whatever u do, do not put any oil in the petrol tank!

Right, so no oil in the petrol tank, got ya! Let me get this straight though - the oil warning light I'm getting is because the two-stroke needs filling as per the page https://www.nsr125.com/twostroke.htm ... and the MAX/MIN gadget on the lower right hand side of the bike is showing the gear oil as per https://www.nsr125.com/gearoil.htm yeah?

U shoudn't let it get 2 the warning light!!!

make sure u always use the same 2 stroke oil as well,
dont mix and match :@)

just keep it oiled and greased up, give it a good wash,
and have fun:-)

i see u have a nova in your street (from the pictures) u hsould have some fun with ur bike
