Ground Anchor

Does anyone know where I can get a cheapish ground anchor fast???

I have having a metal shed put up just for my bike(s) and next week the builders are putting a concrete base down, so I am taking the oppurtunity to get a ground anchor put in. I am looking to spend £30 max coz I don't have much cash till I get paid, which will be too late coz they will have already put the concrete down!!

I think you can get one's for that sorta price... you could allways just find a big chunk of appropriatley shaped scrap metal and get them to put it in.

Speak to your local metal fabricators and get them to knock you one up. I had one made for about £10. Ill draw up some diagrams and post em inna bit.

I remember reading about one which costs about £80. It's from a one-man outfit and he comes and installs it anywhere in the uk. It seemed to be the dog's bollocks, and in the unlikely event someone managed to steal your bike whilst attached to it I think they give you some money or something like that.
I saw it online but I can't remember the link. Anyone?

Ahem...it's not a one man outfit, it costs £90, but if someone nicks your bike, they give you a new anchor for free and pay insurance excess up to £300.

Just had a look and they don't have the one they have in the catalouge (a 'cement-in' one for £27.50)

Ive done the diagram for ya.

You want this made out of 3/4mm steel and you want a 4 ferkin huge bolts. Oh yeah, and some nuts!!

Put The bolts facing up through 2 of the small spacers and concrete these into the floor, leaving enuff bolt on top for the rest to slide onto. Let the concrete go off then...

Slide the rest onto the bolts. It needs to be a sandwich - Big chunk on top, then a spacer at either end then another big chunk. Then fasten the nuts. Then weld them onto the top plate. Then bash them so that they cant be removed.

Oh yeah, I forgot. Cut off the exess bolt a coupl eof mm from the top of the nut then twat the rest wi' big 'ammer to help secure it.

Try MPS - www.thefastone.co.uk, I bought an Alpha Ground Anchor from them for 36.99 which was easy to fit and does the job. Having just looked in the catalogue though they also do one called the Rotalok In-Turn which costs 40.99.

Thanks ann. Thing is, its just as effective as anything that your gonna pay £80 for. The chances are the crims aint gonna attack the ground anchor anyway, theyll go after the loc/chain instead.
