...always turn into dramas?!?!?

Needed to fit a new chain to my CBR cause there was a stiff link. Sprockets were good though. So I order a chain at trade price off my mates. Go to fit it, and it's got a chuffing split link! Confused Tut Tut

Ok, no problem, you can just tap the pins over can't you? No. Asked a bloke for help 'tapping' the pins, he bashes fuck out of them and leaves cracks in them both. Cheers.

So, I'll just grind that mess off and get a 525 rivet link from my local bike shop. Go to fit it - it won't fuckin fit. Apparently different brands have slightly different diameter pins, so I need to get a triple s link. Ok, that's fine.

Except the only place I can get them sells them in packs of 5. So thats 20 quid on top of the 6 quid on the useless link.

I now have a detached chain, I need the bike running by first thing Saturday, and I'm hoping my link(s) arrive by Friday (they should, but whether the postie manages to get them to me is another matter - another story). And hoping that the ones I get actually fit, too.

Pissed off with this, thinking I'll just spend another 60 quid and get a DID one tomorrow from the local place. Although knowing my luck, they won't have a 525 with 102 links in stock...

Why is it that the simple little jobs that will take 5 minutes, end up being a complete bloody palaver? Is it me??!?

I stopped smoking and drinking today. Now sat with a beer and fag in hand. Laughing Rolling Eyes

Whinge over, yes I know if that's all the problems i have in the world I should be grateful - don't worry I have plenty of non-petty stress as well. Wink

I had. Twats. Mad (Although obviously I understand their genuine union issues. But they could've chosen a different day)

Just spent two hours undoing someone's electrical botch job on the indicators. If people don't know how to do something, can't they just leave it the fuck alone? Brick Wall

why if you need the bike did you not just fit the chain with the split link (im not a fan of split links but if fitted correctly they dont fail the same day).
then go off and find either a propper chain with the kind of link you want or find a link that fits your chain that is designed to have the rivets peined .
seems like you have made your own drama.
perhaps ive read it wrong.

The chain that came with my rr had to be removed to fit the new swingarm and they couldn't get a rivet to match so fitted a brand new DID chain FOC, so I was happy.
You'd think a stock (from factory) chain would be easy to re fit Rolling Eyes

That quote was in the context of the wiring fuckup I had to sort out. Of course we all try to learn how to do stuff, but I have a bit of pride in my work and make sure I'm happy with the job when finished. For example, I wouldn't glob glue all over a broken bolt Wink

Seriously, quick fixes when you're stuck are one thing, leaving botches long term is just lazy and careless.
