Setting off for work this morning the sun ( finally ) warming the back of my neck, just pottering along I came across a huuuuuge que of cars.
Being on a motorbike i filtered past all the cars right to the front of the que which was being held up behind a bin lorry so i nipped past that too.
Anyway because the bin lorry had held so much traffic up there was nothing infront of it at all! And all this just before my fave set of corners in the world. The breadsall Esses!
90 degree right, short straight, 90 degree left, downhill sweeping left into a sweeping right, 90 degree downhill right straight into a 90 degree uphill left. About 2 miles in all

The road was warm and dry, i was in a fantastic mood and there was nothing infront of me, it had to be done!
Dont think i dropped below 70mph all the way through, didnt honestly look at my speedo, but my tyres were used right to the edge for the first time in a few weeks!

I got to work grinning like a lunatic. God i love riding bikes.

If you type in 52 57'17.47"n 1 25'27.12"w on google earth you will see said road.

Hehe, that's cool.

I almost had exactly the same story to tell, except that when I overtook the truck at the front of the queue of cars, it immediately started raining.

It's brilliant when you finally have something nice happen in life, isn't it?

edit: even if it's just a few minutes' worth of smiling.

2 miles ...

Left Kirby Longsdale at 9pm other night.

Met one car (Belgium) all the way to Skipton about 35 miles!!!!

Why bikers meet up at lunchtime, when all the cops and cars are about is beyond me.

It's nice when things go your way and these opportunities present themselves.

Near me there's a train railway crossing at the start of quite a nice road, I'm always pleased when it's down, I can ride straight to the front, have a stretch and then shoot off in front of the huge queue of cars that would otherwise be littering my path for the next few miles!

Riding a bike can be a bit like fishing - you sit around waiting for a short burst of frantic action.

That's a brilliant road. I always choose to go that way home from Derby rather than down Derby road or the A38.

One of my favorites is the road between the excavator pub and Clay Cross - its a really good road when theres no cars.

Gosh me too on Monday night, but I turned off at Skipton and headed
towards Keighley.

Small world, great roads at night.
