Two day first aid refresher course. Those of you that do not have first aid training ask yourselves this....
" If I was mashed up at the side of the road would I prefer to be filmed by rat boys on their mobiles for later posting on Youtube whilst everyone did nothing or would I like to have someone there who at least was competent and trained?"

After being at Andy C's crash and realising I was utterly clueless really as what to do I asked work to send me on it. It took over a year but it happened.

Now what they teach you is fairly limited but the whole point is just emergency aid until someone who really knows what they are doing can get to them. Although limited, it could mean the difference between life and death for someone.

Well worth doing.

When my girlfriend and I were the first people on the scene to a guy who jumped off a road bridge it really hits home how little you know.

Luckily the guy on the end of 999 was really helpful.

The guy died from a severe head injury, but at least he was still breathing when the ambulance people arrived. God knows what I would have done had it been worse.

Good on ya! I did a first aid course probably 8 years ago. And I can remember the recovery position and I think that's about it.

Been a First Aider for the last six years, I initially took it because my Father died of a heart attack at work with noone around him that was capable of administering first aid and I never wanted someone else to go through and loose someone in the same circumstances.

Then it occured to me that as my Mother suffers from poor health it would be usefull if the need ever arrises.

Also thought it would be usefull seeing as I travel in a Bike Club aswell now...

Best thing I ever did tbh, still feel a tit during the Role Play on the course though... Laughing

My first aid training has come in handy, mainly from the odd time where iv'e been on camps and one of my unit has hurt them selves, either with a bow saw or the axe. (im an explorer to any one who doesn't know, its the one next up from scouts

Another one here, got work to sign me up to a course after somebody on here helped a young child after a first aid course. Thinking about it I oughta get a small kit to keep under my seat.

Did my course last year, compulsory for my job. Can't remember all of it still, and haven't had to use it yet, LAS have a good response time!

Fingers crossed i won't have to use it too soon either!

Can't remember a thing though.

Completed my First Aid training 4 weeks ago. Was quite interesting.

I always carry a face shield with me now everywhere I go. I would hate to give mouth to mouth without it! Sick

DrJustice, we don't /know/ he jumped. It's mainly my assumption.

And it could have been worse, he could have been in agony or with mangled limbs or something, or vomited blood all over me, that woulda sucked.

The lad didn't smell of alcohol, he had his phone on him (in my head that rules out mugging/drunk suicide) he also had a broken right ankle. (If I'm jumping off a not-very-high road bridge to kill myself, I'm sure as hell doing it head first).

Police never found anything more out.
Tis a mystery, a horrible one I'll never forget.
