i was on my way to my mates house this afternoon when this stupid woman in a car starts reversing from her drive, so i slow down. she then speeds up and comes right out into my lane at which point the oh shit feeling was setting in. so, i slam on my brakes and end up locking the back wheel and loosing grip on the front. the rear end of my bike begins to catch up with the front and i find myself sliding down the road sideways!. thank god i wasnt speeding and managed to get my foot down in time!
Shocked Shocked
conclusion: cage drivers always do what there not supposed to do!! Evil or Very Mad

If you think that every car driver around is out to kill you, it makes you more aware of little things like that. Never EVER trust them to do what they are supposed to do

^what anna said^

oh yeah and try to avoid using the back brake... the front should be able to do plenty and it's better to have the back turning than locked.

G never uses the back brake. No good when the wheels off the ground.

New vehicles manufactured from October, in the UK, will have their side-lights hard-wired on...I don't think it will be compulsory though...

It's advised for motorcyclists over here to ride with their lights on dip, I always do, definately increases your visibility. But it doesn't stop braindead fucks in cars pulling out on you, I found roundabouts the worst for that, which is why I watch every single car on them and if someone looks like theyre about to pull out I stare straight at them and it seems to work.

Makes people notice you but also tends to screw up peoples perception of your speed. Swings and roundabouts really, but as it is advised in the highway code an insurance company could try reducing your payout if you didnt have your lights on

All the best

Mine can't be turned off:) I like being able to recognise bikes from a distance by spotting the lights.
